Disk encryption won't install

I’’’’m having a problem getting full disk encryption (part of EM5.1) installed.  I have tried installing via enterprise console and manually and get the same errors saying that the encryption agent cannot be installed as the PC needs to be rebooted to finish an installation
of another application, there aren’’’’t any other installation in progress and the PC has been rebooted, etc. i've tried it on a couple of Vista SP2 boxes and get eth same issue

  • HI,

What does the bootstrap log say, can you post it?  The encryption setup.exe creates a log file here:

    C:\programdata\Sophos\Sophos Safeguard Installers\ InstallCache\Bootlog.txt

    or for XP/2003:

    C:\documents and settings\all users\appliation data\Sophos\Sophos Safeguard Installers\ InstallCache\Bootlog.txt

The MSI logs for the package are also in this same directory, the files are: msiclientlog.txt and msiprereqlog.txt.

Also, do you have a vlaue called:PendingFileRenameOperations under the key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager \

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc960241.aspx

    Regards,

    Jak

  • Hello Gturco658,

was the mentioned key (PendingFileRenameOperations) present and if, did you remove it? It's a good idea to reboot afterwards, recheck for the key and then try to protect the computer again with Encryption.
