xp sp3 can no longer pull an IP after sophos was uninstalled

Laptop (dell lat d410) xp sp3 all latest updates..... sophos installed but would not start so we removed sophos, now we can no longer pull an IP address..... just wondering if any one else may have seen this sort of issue??  as for now my next step will be to remove network card and re install network card and then new drivers..... and then will remove tcp/ip and refresh that stack as well....

    I'm having the exact same problem.  I uninstalled Sophos on two XP machines- one sp2 and the other sp3.  Both are unable to get an ip after uninstallation.  Definitely not an isolated problem.  Removal/reinstallation of NIC didn't work.  Nor did adding another nic.  Did you ever figure it out?
