Upgrading to Endpoint 10

I may be missing something here.  So forgive me if I am.

I am using Enterprise Console 4.7.0.13.  I would like to upgrade all of the endpoints to version 10.

Is this possible yet?  I cannot see any of the new policies in the console so assume I cannot upgrade the endpoints yet?

As I said,  I may be being a spud,  but hopefully someone can confirm on here for me.

Regards

Stuart

  • Hello Stuart,

unless you upgrade the console to 5.0 you won't see any new policies (if I correctly understand that you are looking for, say, Patch Assessment). If you view a subscription (from Update managers) there should be version 10 for Platform Windows 2000 ... though. You can upgrade the endpoints to V10 using SEC 4.7 but won't be able to manage the new features without upgrading SEC. Note that the availability of the new features also depends on your license.

  • Thanks Christian

Got the EC upgraded to 5 and as you say I am now getting Endpoint 10.

I can see the new patch and web policies and can configure them.  The problem I now have is that they don't appear to be active on the machine I have applied them to.

The status of the these policies is blank, where the other policies say "active / inactive".

    Any ideas?

  • Hi Christian,

Does Pacth assessment required  server like Microsoft WSUS or other patch server to collect security patch?

  • Like SCF both Patch Assessment and Web Control require an accordant license.

PA (assuming you are entitled) does not need any third-party component but the agent has to be deployed to the clients.

  • Can I confirm....

I have Endpoint Security and Control license.  Am I covered?

I can see the policies and set them up but I cannot seem to roll them out.

My license says that it includes Enterprise Console.  As these policies are part of the console I would assume I am covered.

  • Hello Stuart,

haven't installed the production SEC5.0 yet but if you view the subscription details (Update Managers view) the Patch component should be listed - if it's not, then it's probably not included in the license. Recently the "bundles" have been renamed, I now have something called "ES&C - Advanced (EP2)" and Patch does not seem to be included. Your sales rep should be able to give you an "authoritative" answer. You could also try Protect Computers, select Patch and check if it installs.
