need to do a restore

Our install of EM4.7 has got itself in a bit of a mess, so I need to do a restore, what is the best way to go about this?

We're running EM console, manager and NAC on one server with the EM and NAC databases stored on our SQL server.  The server is a Hyper-V based w2k8sp2 box so I can mess with it a fair bit without messing stuff up. I can DR recover the whole box from a couple of weeks ago but would prefer just to restore Sophos.  What do I need to restore?

  • I have had a support call in for the issue but we can't seem to sort it out, as its a bit of a strange one.  Everything was working fine up until 4th August at 13:30 but since then update manager won't update (it does nothing when you click on update) and all clients show as off (red cross in the console)  Its not an issue with firewall or proxy (i have installed a test sophos install on another box and that works fine) and the server firewall is off.  The install sits on a hyper-v guest install of w2k8r2 that I moved to a new host server and the problems sort of tie in with the move.

I can do a full DR of the server from tape if needs be, and the server is still up and running all be it with the problems mentioned above so I can get access to any files or registry setting that I need.

And yes the DB is seperate it sits on our SQL server
