Sophos client version on EC server

Hi Everyone

I have a Windows 2000 server running EC v4.0, so not exactly up to date here...

A couple of weeks ago the client on that server, and all my other clients were automatically upgraded by EC from v9.5 to 10.06.  Since then EC server has become very unstable and I have had to reboot it several times.  I am thinking now of downgrading the client on the EC server back to v9.5.

My question is, is it OK for the client on an EC server to be older than the other clients support by the EC?  Is there any kind of link between EC and its client version, or is it irrelevant?

    EC v4.0, so not exactly up to date here...

    not only not up to date but retired for more than a year. Now SEC 4.0 is the latest version you can run on W2k - but SEC 4.0 is far from suitable for managing v10.0. In fact the instability might be caused by the 10.0 clients and not by the server's client component.

    You should upgrade to a supported version of SEC (I know, you'd also like have to get a new server as an upgrade of the OS  might not be possible) ASAP.

    Apart from this

    - the SEC version should ideally be in accordance with the highest version of the endpoint component (and at least a supported version)

    - there's no requirement that the endpoint versions managed by SEC are all the same nor that the server must run the latest version of the endpoint components
