SEC 4.7.013 and Unmanaged OS X machines

I have just installed SEC version as described above on Windows 2008 R2. I can push out the Antivirus client to Windows clients, and they all appeared in the "Managed Computers" section automatically and as black font. I am however having a problem with OS X computers. Any Mac computer that is synced appears on the console in a grey font and are located in the "Unmanaged Computers" section. One particular OS X client i am doing testing on is 10.6.6 and has Version 7.2.7 of Sophos Anti-Virus Client. I am trying to apply policy to this computer, but can see that it is not talking with SEC, and would assume the fact that it is listed in grey font would have something to do with it.

I have tried to read many documentation contained on the forum but am still having no luck. Any assistance would be much appreciated.

  • Hi QC,

Thanks for your feedback. I read the post and manage to find what the issue was. My next challenge now is to see if there is anyway the SEC can control/manage Macs and PCs that are not on the domain. If you have any tips for me to solve this issue that would be much appreciated. What immediately comes to mind though is the password to the local SophosUpdateMgr account, if i can find what that is, I can make non-domain computers use the SEC as a location to update virus definitions from.

    Any help would be appreciated.
