Windows 7 Removable media issues

I am looking to find out if anyone is aware of an issue with the latest version of Sophos Central Endpoint and removable media devices? Initially, this issue appeared to mimic the previously known issue on Windows 10 Sophos Community CD-ROM

However, we are seeing this issue on Windows 7 and specifically the fix outlined does not correct the issue. Further to this, we are now seeing USB drives mirroring this type of activity whereby as soon as the drive is plugged into the machine, the machine locks up. You can see the drive in disk management, but the drive never gets assigned a drive letter. Trying to access the drive causes the machine to lock up and you have to force shut down the machine.

Is anyone seeing similar problems, or does anyone have the same type of environment where they could potentially test this.

I have got a called raised with Sophos and they need to have a remote session with us to determine the cause of the problem, however reaching out to the community to see if this is wider than just our enterprise.

  • Hi

Thank you for providing the case number, it seems from the logs that you are also using Endpoint protector along with Sophos Endpoint which might be causing the issue. I would request you to uninstall Endpoint protector and check once. Let me know how it goes.
