After changing laptops, not able to access my files anymore

Hi All,

Pardon if this question has been asked before (please point me in the right direction if it has been answered) but is there an admin method of removing SOPHOS encryption from files?

A little background: my company uses SOPHOS EndPoint protection. EVERY USB drive that we use gets encrypted via SOPHOS. For a time, our SOPHOS was set up so that when you have files under "Unencrypted," it would not be encrypted.

So I saved a backup of some of my files on a USB flash drive, knowing that it is encrypted. A few months later, my work computer was upgraded (new machine). I then transferred some of my files via the USB drive, thinking my files wouldn't be encrypted but at some point I think our admin upgraded(?) SOPHOS and changed the unencrypted folder to be the Public folder.

I am now no longer able to access my older files. My previous machine had also been reformatted, so I can't get access to it again. :(

Is there a way for the admin to remove/reset the encryption key that existed with my previous machine so that I could get my files back?

Thank you and looking forward to anyone who can help me with this.
