crt.cfg keeps resetting

For some some odd reason the crt.cfg files keeps resetting, I am thinking its the updates that are doing this but I can't work out why.

Is there a way to stopt this from happening?

Thanks.

  • Hello,

    what do you mean by keeps resetting ? Unless you've extracted it to the \crt folder it resides in data.zip. And BTW what modifications did you apply?

  • Mine is doing the same thing.

    the crt.cfg inside the data.zip file.

    ;Remove product suites, by default off
    RemoveSuites=1

    After a day this was changed back to the default "0"

    update:  I just read this

    I had to go and update the crt.cfg file under Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sophos\Update Manager\CIDs\S000\SAVSCFXP\crt\data.zip

    I had to change all the variables that were 0's to 1's, and then save that file outside of the data.zip folder.  After that, open up Update Manager on the Enterprise console and update the configuration.  Once that is updated, you can then push to the client machine and all 3rd party security software will be uninstalled.

    But when i go to

    ACTIONS-> Update Manger-> all of the selectiong are greyed out??  why is that??

  • Hello Semex,

    as Sophos Competitor Removal Tool: significant files and information states, do not place the modified file CRT.cfg file back inside the data.zip file - I see from your Edit that you have done as suggested. It is not necessary to do anything in the Console (except using Protect Computers ... on the endpoints in question). Dunno what bwarholak meant by update the configuration and why he thought he had to do it. Anyway, if you are on the Endpoints view the Update Manager actions are not available - you'd have to go to the Update managers view and select an update manager first (personally I prefer the right-click).
