Remote file scan - very slow saving files

We have recently deployed sophos central and are having issues when working with files on remote shares. We have remote file scanning enabled in our policy and have found it extremely slow when working with office docs on network shares/SharePoint, or moving small files between network shares. Without remote scanning enabled, saving files is almost instantaneous, with it enabled it can take almost a minute. We are also using folder redirection in our profiles and have seen instances where a system a system will blue screen because it cannot release an open handle to a network file quick enough (windows blue screen after 3 failed attempts to release the file). The roaming profile files are saved to a physical file server, while other files are saved to an isilon. I would prefer not to disable remote file scan, so does anyone have any recommendations? Has anyone else seen this behaviour? Thanks
