SPF record for Office 365

Hi

I am just in the midst of configuring Sophos Central email security for a customer and wondered what SPF record i need to append to their DNS records? (o365 or sophos)

The setup up is

Internet --> Sophos --> O365

Cheers.

  • SPF determines the hosts that are allowed to send on behalf of the domain.

    • If their outbound server is Office 365, then you will need to setup Office 365 in the SPF record:
      • v=spf1 include:spf.protection.outlook.com -all (pulled direct from Office 365 domain setup - yours may vary)

    • If their outbound server is Sophos (outbound scanning) then you will need to setup Sophos in the SPF record:
      • v=spf1 include:_spf.prod.hydra.sophos.com ~all (pulled from Sophos Central Setup - yours may vary)

    The SPF record also needs to include any other domain(s) / application(s) that send email on behalf of the domain.
