Meltdown and Spectre

Hi

Meltdown and Spectre are 2 security vulnerabilities on a processor that can allow an attacker to read other process and kernel memory.

It can be used with Javascript to access memory form the web browser. I can be used in a container or a VM to access other containers/VM memory

Is InterceptX tested against this attacks?

Best regards

  • Hi Olivier,

To answer your initial question, yes Intercept X has been tested and has no compatibility issues. Please do note that since Intercept X is designed to run alongside your main AV program, if you use a different vendor, you would have to set the registry keys on that vendor's AV, not Intercept X.

    Cheers,
    Karlos

  • That does not answer Olivier's initial question. The question he asked, and for which he is still needing an answer, is whether Intercept X will help give any protection - now, soon, or ever - against threats which exploit the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerabilities.

I'd like an answer to that question too, as it seems to be exactly the sort of thing we would expect see Intercept X handle - suspicious looking activity around known exploit vectors.

Can we get an answer for that, please, even if it's a 'no'.

  • Hi Simon,

Apologies for misunderstanding. I will reach out to the relevant team to get a more exact answer and update this thread.

    Thanks,
    Karlos
