What to do if i am getting the error "Running malware in quarantine or cleanup failure"

One of our clients has 150+ sophos central endpoint users. For the majority of these users, we are getting the red error sign in Security status and with it there is a error message as follows "Running malware in quarantine or cleanup failure". I cleaned up all the alerts ( which is a very long task for 150+ users ) but still getting the red status error. Sophos has detected many files on each PC which needed Manual cleanup. How is the customer expected to visit each PC and find each file and manually delete it ? Is there a better way for dealing with Manual cleanup ?

  • Hi

Can you Shed some light on the detection that we are dealing with? Entries from SAV.txt from a client would help us regarding the detection details(Action taken previously, other detections in the client, when the detection started to appear, etc.).

On a single client check if the detected file is still present in the original location? If yes, then we might have to manually remove it as the Client software is not able to complete the action.(A full scan with latest definitions or Sophos clean would help).

If the file is no longer present and just new entries are formed then try a reboot followed by a full scan.

Please let me know the outcome so that we can proceed accordingly.
