Can you run Process Monitor to understand more?
Which component of Sophos causes the issue?

Can you disable Cryptoguard on the computer for example, does it then work?

Assuming you are running the latest agent, can you provide details of what components you are running and their versions?

This can be found from the system tray icon and clicking 'About'
