Intercept X Installation and Reporting

Sophos Endpoint protection has worked well for us over the past two years and we have opted to add Intercept X to our machines. Unfortunately this requires a manual install for each machine because taper protection must be disabled for each machine as we install the package containing Intercept X. While this is not my preferred deployment method it is manageable with only a couple hundred machines to upgrade, but how do you validate results? Sure, there is a license count, but where are those licenses applied?

I went to Sophos Central and took a look at the reporting and there is strikingly little detail in ANY of the reports beyond what I would consider a memo on each machine. While Sophos works much better than competing products, it has quite a way to go to catch up with their consoles and reporting. I should be able to deploy this product from Sophos Central AND view reports on which machines have Intercept X installed, and which ones don't. I would think any product would at least report on itself?!?

Does anyone know a better way?

Sophos support has not been much help with the deployment or the Intercept X reporting.

  • If you go to:

    https://cloud.sophos.com/manage/endpoint/devices/computers/all/computers

Click on "Manage Endpoint Software" - top right of the list view, then on the popup dialog, you can select "Intercept X" and from there move the clients over.  This should send down a policy to subscribe them to the package.

    Have to tried this workflow?

  • Jak,

Thanks for the reply, and the deployment solution works.

While researching Intercept X reporting this morning I came across these instructions in another post (I believe you were the author of that post). I tried using "Manage Endpoint Software" in  Sophos Central and it worked perfectly! I now have 70% of my total machine count showing up as used Intercept X licenses. Now I need get a report so that I can go to the machines WITHOUT Intercept X installed and troubleshoot the rollout.
