Sophos XG Firewall Blocking Sophos Endpoint Updates

We have been having problems getting our Sophos Endpoint clients to update/install.  It fails the checksum.  We were able to nail down which file fails and have been able to manually download the file and move it to the appropriate location.  This is on new installs on numerous machines district wide. Sophos techs have checked things out but are unable to locate what is blocking this file to get transferred.  They are telling us that the firewall is blocking the update, yet we are using a Sophos XG firewall. We have verified that the appropriate domains and ports are open or are set to open on the firewall. Also, we had been able to successfully update / install clients up until about a month ago.

Sophos's answer to our problem is to have us write a script to manually move the file to where it needs to be...  That to me isn't an answer.

The client computers are Windows 7 SP1, all updates current.

This is the script we have used successfully...

copy c713*.* "C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\data\warehouse"

The name of the file failing is...  c713df70875de8d2574d114e7082245ex000.dat

Any advice is appreciated!

Cheers,

  • Hello Joe Gill,

just this one file? It's a Public Key and eventually stored in the cache as public.pem. Maybe looking at the properties and contents of the corrupt c713df70875de8d2574d114e7082245ex000.dat in the warehouse will give a hint what could have happened to it.

  • In the XG box, have you looked into Protect -Web - exceptions and make sure Sophos live connect is turned ON - endpoints connect to Sophos Liveconnect and the next rule Allow sophos services is turned ON
