Error Message 142 - workstation fails to install.

I have 3 machines that are experiencing errors in installing the endpoint client.  The client names are:  churt-0716 and cstandish-0716.   The response for error code 142 does not seem to apply.

    I had a similar issue upgrading Sophos Endpoint Advanced to the new Sophos Central.

    The solution I found was to:

     

    1. Log into the computer as a local administrator (if you are not one already).

    2. Go into computer management section > groups

    3. Add the local support account in the Sophos Administrators Group.

    4. Try installing again.

     

    This worked for me however may not work for everyone based on circumstances.
