System Slowness after upgrading to X Endpoint from Local Endpoint

If you'd like to restrict when Sophos performs updates on devices, you can use the "Update Management" policy in Sophos Central. 

When the performance issues occur, are you seeing any specific processes from Sophos showing increased CPU or memory usage? 

The Process I see that is using 100% of the Hard Drive is the Sophos Auto Update Service.

Does the device have an HDD or SSD? If the device is older, you may want to consider upgrading the drive, especially if this issue occurs every time an update takes place.

An update check will take place every hour, though typically, new files are not downloaded or moved around on the device unless product updates have been released from Sophos. The update check will still be performed regardless, does this issue occur each time the update takes place?

I have encountered the issue on both HDD system and SSD systems. On the SSD system it is more responsive then the HDD system when the updates are running but is still slow while thy are running.

I suggest opening a case with our support team, so we can verify if the symptoms you're experiencing are due to normal operation or if something else may be going on.
