Sophos Update Failed with Checkpoint Endpoint VPN Client (since v86.40)

Hi all

We use Sophos InterceptX on all computers (w10 et w11)

for VPN, we are using Checkpoint Endpoint Client https://supportcenter.checkpoint.com/supportcenter/portal?eventSubmit_doShowproductpage&productTab=downloads&product=175

The last versions, v86.40 and v86.50 are blocking Sophos Update !

Sophos support tell me that Checkpoint seems do not use "file system minifilter"  https://support.sophos.com/support/s/article/KB-000033347?language=en_US&name=KB-000033347

have you experimented some similar problem ?

thanks

  • +1 on this problem.  We upgraded our Checkpoint VPN to 86.40 and started noticing endpoints reporting failed updates.  We didn’t immediately connect the two, logged a call with Sophos and subsequently discovered the issue.  The call has been escalated to the GES team and while we wait a resolution we have downgraded all endpoints back down to 85.20

  • Hello ok thanks we have the same issue

for me, no solution for the moment, the vsdatant.sys drive, when disabled, is crashing Checkpoint (service not functionnal), so with Sophos and Checkpoint, only 85.20 is ok....

  • This issue will likely require Sophos and the vendor for Checkpoint to work together towards a solution. If you haven’t yet created a case, I suggest doing so.

You're welcome to PM me the case number once created so that I may follow up with our team. The issue appears to be that Checkpoint is performing virus protection actions as well as facilitating the VPN connection.

Edit/Update: Our development team has opened a case concerning this issue. Please open a support case with our team and provide an SDU log from the affected device so we may associate your case with the ongoing investigation.

Update2: The following articles have been published by CheckPoint and Sophos, respectively, concerning this issue. Further work is continuing between Sophos and Checkpoint to find a more permanent solution.
    - Endpoint E85.10 - Driver interferes with Sophos
    - Sophos update failing when Check Point VPN version 86.40 is installed
