Mass updates of PC's in groups

I have over 1,100 computer devices in Sophos Central
We have branches for all of our business by location
I have the groups set up with those regional PC's in each group
So in essence the Chicago group has all the pcs that are labelled CHiPC01 - 100
And the St Louis group has all the pcs that are labelled STPC01 -100

So I want to navigate into each group and click on Chicago and do a mass UPDATE ALL PC's to the latest Polices or virus definition, or do a mass scan on all the PCs in Chicago?

Can I perform mass operations on a group?

Thank you in advance

  • Hi James,

If we're talking about virus definition updates, endpoints will check for updates every hour and this is not configurable.

If we're talking about software updates then there are two ways to do it.  You can use Controlled updates under Settings to control when software updates get pushed out, however this can only be applied to two different types of groups defined on this page: test computers and non-test computers.  In theory if you used Sophos Central Enterprise to split up your environment by location you could do exactly what you are looking for, a click of a button to update all computers in a region.

The other option is to use the Update Management policy to define when endpoints will check for software updates.  This would only allow the endpoints to update at a set date and time rather than your preferred button to update endpoints.

The final suggestion would be to submit this as a feature request as it isn't something currently built into Sophos Central.
