Sophos cutting off emails being sent from an internal account to external accounts.

Hello,

We have recently discovered issues when sending certain types of emails to users outside of our company. Sending internally is not an issue and receiving email from external senders is not a problem as well.

An example of our issue would be creating a punch list with bullet points and sending it to our contractors. When the email arrives, the part of the email history with the punch list is completely cut off and never makes it to the external email. This leaves huge gaps in the information we are sending.

Example punch list:

We have tried with and without html, we have also tried different colors and text formats.

We have identified a workaround for this. We simply put it in a Microsoft office document and send as an attachment (I am sure we can use the snipping tool as well). We would still like to do better for our employees, so we are reaching out to you here.

Are there specific text formats that Sophos just does not play well with? Certain sizes, colors etc?

Is this something we can adjust in the Sophos Self Service Portal?

The only reason we suspect it to be Sophos related, is the fact we did not start experiencing this issue until we integrated sophos with our exchange, this is also a very isolated issue.

Let me know if you need more information.

Thank you for all that you do.

  • Looks odd to me: As far as i know, Sophos does not likely cut of styles etc.

If you create a special policy for tests with only a Test Account, in this policy disable everything, will it still be destroyed?

  • After doing research, we actually found it was not the contents of the email, but rather the Sophos smart banners that were causing the issue.

All of the emails we have sent to people outside of our company have been cut off from the smart banner on down. When disabling the smart banner or converting to plain text, it works.

Is there a special requirement or setting change that needs to be done to allow external emails to recognize the smart banner image and not cut off the emails?

    Thank you.
