Central encryption

Question

Installed Sophos Central Encryption. After install it turned on bitlocker and encrypted the drive, however I copied a text file from it to another computer and it opens without any effort. I know I can right click and password protect the file BUT is the only encryption to right click and password protect a file?

To clarify - Central Device Encryption (using Bitlocker) protects data at rest on the harddrive. So, when the machine is powered down the data stored there is encrypted and can't be read even if the drive is taken out and mounted into another chassis without the proper decryption key. 
 When the drive is booted (you supply the key through a TPM PIN or some other mechanism) and the filter driver sits between the OS and the drive decrypting things on the fly as they are called up- this is why you can view files. 
 When you move a file to another system - the cleartext (decrypted) data is sent to the other computer and it writes it to its own hdd. If that hdd is also encrypted with bitlocker it will be encrypted again at write with the key for that new hdd.
