Sophos Central proxy in General Settings

hey,

on a customer site, some machines use proxy but some do not.

if we were to configure proxy in Global Settings, then will this setting prevent machines that connect directly from being able to update/report?

Same question goes for the installer: I assume that once you configure proxy setting, they are embedded in the installer you download.

Will Sophos deploy from this installer on machines with and without the proxy configured?

  • Hello

If you configure the proxy in Global Settings > Proxy Configuration, Windows, Mac and Linux computers and servers will connect to the Internet (when updating only) using the first working attempt (in this order):

    1. Connect using the default system proxy
    2. Connect using an automatically discovered proxy (WPAD)
    3. Connect without using a proxy

Machines that connect directly then, will still update because a direct connection (w/o proxy) will be attempted last if the first 2 methods fail.

As for the installer, if the machine connects through a proxy, you need to run the install with the applicable proxy switches mentioned in this article.
