Sophos Central Encryption

Hey All,

Maybe some one can help.

I have a Dell Latitude 7280, I tried to install the encryption with central and after reboot for boot encryption I get this message :

I tried the above and then nothing happens . It just keeps saying that.

I found this article :

But those options aren't on the laptop . I know have this for TPM2

Any help would be great, I do know the boot is in Legacy Mode and on that site it says it needs to be formatted. I hope there's another way around it.

Hi Ryan,

Can you please send me the BIOS Mode as well.

Please browse to Windows desktop-start-run-system information-System Summary-BIOD Mode.

If the BIOS Mode is Legacy Mode, then you will have to downgrade the TPM to version 1.2 or need to upgrade the BIOS mode to UEFI to work with TPM 2.0.

Hi, as far as I checked it was Legacy Mode.

If I downgrade the TPM to 1.2 will it wipe any data from the device ?

I will get a screen shot thou .

It doesn't show the Dell Latitude 7280, If I go to the drivers page for that model and security it only shows this no TPM

Hi Ryan,

You will have to check with Microsoft support to change the TPM version.

This is the combination of BIOS Mode and TPM mode to make this work.

BIOS-UEFI, TPM 2.0

BIOS-Legacy, TPM 1.2
