SAP file attachments slow to download when Real Time Scanning - Files is enabled

When our users open PDF attachments in SAP it is very slow to open (upwards of 30 secs). If we disable Real Time Scanning - Files on the users PC, attachments open up instantly as normal.

Are we able to block scanning/trust PDF files coming from SAP / downloaded from a particular server?

  • Hi

Performance issues are a little bit complex, we need to find the exact process which is causing the issue. We do not recommend any file exclusions unless instructed by the support after proper investigation. Process monitor logs can be helpful here. Also, please confirm on which OS build you are facing the issue?

  • Hi Matthew,

If the file is accessed from a remote server, you can test the performance after turning off "Remote files scanning" under Threat Protection policy settings, also check with the SAP vendor for their recommended exclusions.

There is an option to do a scanning exclusion via policy where you can specify the path of the application to exclude from scanning on the Threat Protection policy.

Sophos will not recommend any scanning exclusions and it is completely on Customers if they are 100% sure that the application is legitimate then they can add it as an exclusion.

You can contact Technical support via phone in case you need any guidance to apply the exclusions.
