DLP Rule - exclusion files type

Dear all,

I created a DLP Rule and would like to get more information about the exclusions - Is there a list available which data types included in the different categories ?

I would like to exclude *.dat Files - but I don't know which categories to choose.

Thank you

  • Hello Supporter0711,

are you talking about a File or a Content rule? And I wonder why you want to exclude *.dat files - this is perhaps not necessary.
Please note the difference between file types (i.e. a file's actual content) and file names. The term name is overloaded as it can refer to both the whole name and the part before the final dot, with the part after the dot being the extension. Thus *.dat would actually be a file name exclusion.

data types included in the different categories
I'm not using Central and am not familiar with its GUI. When the on-premise SEC displays a type selection list it looks like this:

I assume that Central Admin also provides this information in some way. Note that you won't find specific extensions in this list.
