Endpoint Protection forcing OneDrive on-demand files to download

We have a recent issue with OneDrive on-demand not working which I think is being caused by Sophos Endpoint. Has anyone else experience this?

Was fine until recently but now OneDrive is syncing all files down to the client regardless of whether Files on Demand is turned on. I suspect it is being caused by Sophos Real Time Scanning seeing the placeholder and pulling the file down.

Interested if anyone else has the same issue?

  • Following testing we've narrowed this down to a compatability issue with Window 10 1709 with Sophos EndPoint.

If anyone else is running the combination of Windows 170 and Sophos Endpoint, I would be grateful for confirmation that the combination doesn't support OneDrive Files on-demand. Specfically, Sophos Endpoint forces the remote files to be downloaded to the device regardless of whether Files on-demand is configured.

Note that this is not an issue with Windows 10 1803 or above.

    Kind regards
