We have been experiencing an issue on our web servers (which run Sophos) for about 6 months now. We are working with Microsoft Premier Support to diagnose the issue, but they seem to suspect Sophos, so I thought I would post here and see if anyone has any insights.
The issue is that randomly, application pools from IIS will effectively hang. The website will stay "loading" in the browser forever. Microsoft's diagnosis so far is that http.sys is not creating the worker process correctly under certain conditions.
The only solution we currently have is to recreate the application pools. IISReset does not fix it.
Does this sound like something Sophos interferes with?
I have disabled Sophos on a few of my servers now to see if the issue reoccurs, but it is very hard to reproduce and it can't be done reliably.
