Sophos agent, central and update.

Could you tell me when the sophos agent is updated the agent is calling the central sophos to update or is it the central sophos that notifies the agent that needs updating?
I can control the update period, for example check if it has update every 5 min?

  • You can tell the client to "Update now" from Central but otherwise, when the computer starts, the Sophos AutoUpdate service starts.

5 minutes after the service starts it starts the first update check.

The next checks are every 60 minutes as defined in C:\ProgramData\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Config\isched.cfg which is part of the updating policy sent down to the client via policy.

The checks will not always require an update, they are checks to see in an update is required.  If an update is required, following the download an installation, the client will sent a new status back to central.

What are you trying to change?

To answer this, In Central, a user cannot set the frequency of updates. If preferred, one can control how computers update.

Please check Sophos Endpoint: update process which will explain in detail.
