[Sophos Notification] Advisory - Sophos Central: Global Template feature temporarily disabled within Enterprise and Partner dashboards

Hey Community,

It has come to our attention that some of the custom Global Policy templates within the Partner and Enterprise Dashboards may have been reset to the default template. The global templates in question that were inadvertently reset were NOT pushed out, so your endpoints and servers continue to be governed by the last policies applied prior to Saturday March 2nd 2019.

In order to eliminate the risk of inadvertently pushing a new global policy while we resolve this issue, we have hidden access to global templates within our dashboard. Our Partners who co-brand their Central experience will also note this hides Co-branding configuration.

Since the global template assigned to customers/sub-estates have been locked from modifications, if a change is required in the interim of this being re-enabled, please contact Sophos Technical Support. We will help to get you interim access to work in this section, which will allow you to temporarily unassign any sub-estates/customers from a Global template. This will unlock the base policies within the Sophos Central Admin and allow you to make temporary edits.

Please Note: While you have access to this feature in the interim of the issue being resolved, it is important to not push any changes during this time so your customer/sub-estate accounts retain the policy settings you established before the reset.

  • Update March 5th: The issue has been identified, and work is being done that will prevent this from happening again prior to re-enabling this functionality. We are currently expecting this to be made available again on or before March 8th.

  • March 7th update: The root cause has been addressed in production and the global templates feature has been re-enabled for both partners and enterprises (as of 3pm EST). The logic that checks for changes to policy defaults was addressed not to update the custom templates if policy defaults change.

It is important to confirm before pushing any changes so customer/sub-estate accounts retain the policy settings established before the reset. If you have a Global Template policy that was impacted by this - an updated pop up message will show when you 'Push' changes again for the first time. This pop up will require Partners and Enterprises to check/confirm that the Global templates (one time only per template) have their custom settings before pushing any changes to the customers/sub-estates. You can try copying lost settings from settings still applied to customers.

This dialog box will reference Customers instead of sub-estates if this is for Partner Dashboard.
