Creating an exclusion for a SMB share for MacOS users

Hello,

We have an smb share that our Mac users connect to that has their own user directory.  Something like smb://server/<username>.

Is there a way to create an exclusion with a variable that is something like /Volumes/$username for these Mac users so that I don't have to create one manually every time a new user directory is created?

  • Hi Christian,

We are using a 3rd party app (Acronis Files Connect) for the Mac users and Sophos is interfering with the directories.  The files put in directories are zero bytes and the permissions are messed up. We figured out it was Sophos when we tried on a Mac without it installed yet and there were no issues.

  • Hello George Nussbaum,

    Sophos is interfering
you can put it this way. OTOH Acronis Files Connect - I have no experience with this product - likely makes some low-level changes (i.e. changes to the kernel) that cause this incompatibility. It sounds like there's a lot of a user's stuff on these shares - wouldn't it be a not-so-good idea to exclude all that?

Anyway I'd contact Support directly to get some official statement regarding the interoperability of the two products.
