Allow 1 Domain For 1 User Without A New Policy

As the title states, I want to allow docs.google.com for 1 laptop user. This domain is block by a “Domain User” Policy for ALL other users and I want that to remain.

So what is the best way to allow 1 single user access to this domain without creating a brand new policy? If a new policy is needed, what’s the best way for that considering what I want?

  • Hey Chunker,

I assume this is being done under a web control policy, correct? You will need a new policy to apply to this single user, unfortunately. Otherwise we'll have no way to actually bind this new website to the user.

What you can try for me is the following:

    1. Go to global settings -> website management

    2. Add the website docs.google.com with a "tag" such as 'document management'

    3. Go to endpoint protection -> policies -> Default Policy - Web Protection

    4. Press "clone" in the top right & name it how you wish

    5. Make sure just the user you want is added into the policy & then go over to settings.

    6. Enable the "control sites tagged in Website Management" & add the tag you created for Google Documents.

    7. Save the policy.

Check under the user in Central to make sure the policy is applying to them, anything in "control sites tagged in Website Management" will override any other web control settings.

Please do give this a go and let me know how you get on.

    Cheers
