I think perhaps I didn't explain correctly. This is nothing to do with updating the SMC app.  This is about controlling the update to iOS. The customer would like to control the staged updates of iOS so that the clients all comply with the supported version of iOS in this case 11.4.1 without going straight to 12 that came out yesterday.

Thanks for clarifying.  This is the Sophos Central forum, so you probably want to ask mobile specific questions in the mobile section.

I'm not looking for a compliance rule stating that the Maximum OS version would put the device out of compliance, I'm looking for the functionality to not just "upgrade to Latest" OS but to be able to pick a version number that will be the "Production" version,  whilst the Latest version could be deployed in a Dev environment, it's not appropriate until a few months tasting has passed.
