DNS issue after uninstalling Sophos Endpoint Agent

We have noticed that when we have a computer that has a failed Sophos Central issue, for example, Missing Sophos AutoUpdate Service, after we have uninstalled Sophos and rebooted, the computer will no longer respond to DNS type requests!

For example:
Missing Sophos AutoUpdate Service displayed in Sophos Central
Attempting to reinstall using both the fat and thin version of the installer fails.
Ping to domain controller responds OK
Uninstall Sophos
Reboot
Ping domain controller via DNS name fails
Ping domain controller via IP address works
Other things such as RSOP.MSC fails as they computer cannot see the domain.

Windows Firewall is turned off

The fix we have found is to reimage the workstation.

Sophos has been working (as much as it ever does) on this machine until recently, this issue has only occurred over the last few days.

Anyone else have this issue?

  • Mark,

I have this same issue on my laptop. However the only time I have the issue is on wireless. For me, I have not looked into this issue much as like you, it was easier to re-image a couple of machines with the latest release of windows 10.

I have left mine the way it is to hopefully come across the solution, as I have not had enough time to troubleshoot it myself.
