Forcing encryption on macOS

When a mac is prompted to encrypt the end user has a postpone button to click.

Is there any way disable the postpone button?

Can the postpone button have a deferral?

Can you trigger the prompt on demand via a script?

Thanks

  • Hi BC1,

Unfortunately, we do not have any option to enforce the user force to initiate the encryption. You can raise a feature request for it.

My recommendation would be to setup the Client device encryption before the device is handed over to the end user, this way you can make sure the device is compliant.

  • Mani,

Thanks for the response, I'll log a feature request.

We currently ensure encryption is enabled on all new MacBook deployments due to the issues with secureToken. The problem I now have is enforcing encryption on 100's of Macs that are already in active use.

Hopefully a future update can solve this issue and ensure devices are compliant.
