Services not installing

I am trying to install Sophos endpoint on a new Windows 10 machine.

I've tried multiple times with both user & admin accounts and the install will not complete successfully. The only services which seem to install are the "Sophos Clean" & "Sophos Safestore" services, all others are missing?

I've logged a support ticket two weeks ago and submitted logs as requested but heard nothing back after that.

Is there a fix I can try rather than waiting indefinitely for a reply from support?

Thanks,

Anthony

  • I assume you ran SophosSetup.exe.  This installer would have downloaded and attempted to install the packages as the logged on user.  The log file for the installer is here:

    C:\ProgramData\Sophos\CloudInstaller\Logs\

For each component being installed, there will be log files under the installing users temp: %temp%.

The installation log file of the installer shows the order of the components to be installed.  E.g.

    INFO : Install sequence for components is: uninstaller64 sed64 mcsep sse64 sfs64 clean64 esh64 ui64 shs sdu efw64 savxp enc sme64 ntp64 hmpa64 sau

I would check the last log file under C:\ProgramData\Sophos\CloudInstaller\Logs\.  Go to the installation phase following the above line and it should be obvious which package failed.  Then look in %temp% for the setup log and MSI for that component.

Some components just have one log, where the setup log is at the start and end of the same MSI log.  Some components don't use MSI either but either way, you should be able to find the logs of the failed component.  Maybe attach them here if you need assistance.
