How to connect to Sophos Central via proxy that requires authentication

Hi

We have just moved to a new Proxy system that requires authentication and our servers stopped communicating with Sophos Central and stopped downloading updates.

I have already checked https://community.sophos.com/kb/en-us/119263 and it will not work for us as we dont have an option to exclude particular sites from the proxy (or rather we cannot open our firewall for particular sites). I have noticed though an option for proxy credentials in config.xml file so I am wandering if we can use that to authenticate an endpoint to our proxy so it can communicate with Sophos Central and download updates.

Thanks

  • Hi Stephen,

    ok but we have 4 customers in public sector and each of them use the proxy provided from the datacenter with this authentication.

    So it is not possible to deploy the pruduct for our customers in the public sector.
    This is good to know but perhaps someone should remark this on the product page.

    So we take another product for these customers. Perhaps someday there will be a solution.

  • I will pass on your feedback, and I agree our KB article should be updated to reflect the supported authentication types.

    It is possible for your customers to deploy, they just need to either;

    * use a more secure authentication method for their proxy

    * bypass the proxy

    I appreciate these options may not be viable.
