Slow boot

Hello,

Since we migrated to Sophos, some old computers have become very slow to start and launch some programs like Outlook. For Outlook I've put some exceptions like *.ost, ... But it's still slow to start.

I've used ProcessMonitor to track all sophos programs that runs at boot, and I've seen lots of "SophosFileScanner.exe" and "SophosFS.exe"(which is launched by SophosFileScanner service).

I've read lots of posts concerning this subject but I never found a correct solution.

So is there any way to delay some Sophos startup programs without losing security ?

  • I am seeing the same behavior (SophosFileScanner high utilization, extended login times, applications launching slow) and receiving growing complaints from end users.  I'm assuming this is related to real-time protection since our scheduled scan is set for after hours.  Would unchecking 'remote files' under 'Real-time Scanning - Local Files and Network Shares' make a difference I wonder?  I've tried to look up documentation on what this does but I cannot find anything.

  • Do you have Hitman Pro Components also installed?
