Sophos Central Windows Server Protection – Remote Desktop (Terminal) Services (KB 127299)

Scope of user licenses: If an end user already has an endpoint license (e.g. they have Sophos Endpoint Protection installed on their workstation), an additional license is not required if they also use Remote Desktop Services. Sophos Central will recognize them as the same user and consume one license only.

I need to update these guidelines to advise that the users endpoint and the server they log onto must exist in the same Central account.

So all users in the last 30 days take up an extra ENDPOINT license?

What about users on a dumb terminal that can't run endpoint?

What about the administrator user(s)?

We have a client where most staff have 2 logins (EG: John1, John2, Sam1, Sam2), so they now need literally double the licenses they did before?

Hi Tim,

Not all users, just users that don't currently exist in the Sophos Central account that the RDS server is in. Users on a dumb terminal are benefiting from the protection on the Server, so, as per our EULA they would consume a user license. This is also true of admins that login.
