I run Sophos 8.0.19 on an iMac running OSX 10.6.8. It's been a while since I've been able to complete a successful scan of the harddrive, since it keeps freezing midway in the scan (I see others have reported this on the boards). I've also looked at other messages with advice on how to upgrade to version 9, which seems to take care of the freezing issue. My problem is that I downloaded my current Sophos from a previous employer (a university). I don't see a Sophos remove utility in the Applications folder and I can't find it with searchlight, which leads me to believe I won't be able to just download 9 and install over my current version without problems. Other advice was to download version 8 and install again on top of what I'm running now, then download and install 9. Is reinstalling Sophos 8 over the version of 8 I got from my employer advisable or possible? In the end, I just want to upgrade to 9 and don't know how to get there safely.
