my imac w/ 10.6.8 has become incredibly slow since installing sophos anti-virus Version 8.0.10C

I installed sophos anti-virus about a week ago, and scanned the whole computer. completed that no problem. But now that it's running on access, my whole computer has been incredibly slow all week, hanging up when working on my website and generally a pain. I'm considering uninstalling it now, unless there's some kind of easy fix to this that someone like myself without a lot of computer skills can do. thanks if anyone can help

    UNINSTALL it! to do so, click on package program as you did to install, second line down says READ, click on that and it tells how to install by going to the Sophos programs folder/file in your "Applications" list on your computer and type in (Remove Sophos). Click on that and it will uninstall quickly. Good luck and hope this solve our problem for it happened to me too.

    Thanks Prissa, but before I go ahead and delete it I'm hoping there's a solution other than just uninstalling the program, as I'd like to have protection from viruses. Anyone?
