I'm not allowed to update my software?

My school has a strict policy on having anti virus. I decided to download your free program. My school's internet basically said "hey! not good enough! your program hasn't been updated in more than two weeks!".  So I went to update it, and it wouldn't let me. It said I needed a password and username (which I'm not even allowed to type in because it's grey and unavailable) This is incredibly frustrating. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

  • An additional note: your school has a strict policy on AV: do they provide you with Sophos Anti-Virus, or did you download the Home Edition?  The two products are not the same; your school will control the access credentials and the update server if you got SAV through them.  If you're using the Home Edition on a personal laptop, follow Christian's instructions.
