Getting '(GIF 1x1 pixel) blank page instead of eBay site. Is it Sophos or Firefox or other?

Hello,

All of a sudden, I can't open eBay from within Firefox. I get a blank page with '(GIF 1x1 pixels)' on the tab. I CAN open eBay via horrible Safari. I have an ancient Mac Powerbook running OS X 10.4.11, and am wondering if the problem is an update from Firefox, an add-on from Firefox, or has Sophos switched on a blocker?

I looked in Sophos, and it is supposed to 'allow' certain sites to use pop-ups, and eBay is on the list. All other sites accessed via Firefox are without problems. I haven't run a security scan recently, but my techier friends assure me that Intego is miraculous, and would let me know if anything untoward were causing the blank page problem.

Can anyone suggest what's causing this/what to do about it?

    SAV HE for Mac doesn't include our web protection service; this sounds like it's a problem within firefox.

    What happens if you try an alternate eBay site (www.ebay.co.uk, www.ebay.ca, etc)?

    Also, how are you getting to eBay? entering the domain in the address bar, clicking a link, clicking a bookmark...?  It's possible that the site you're going to isn't actually eBay in Firefox.
