How do I ignore scanning my Time capsule?

How do I stop Sophos Anti-Virys from automatically scanning my Time Capsule?  It has over seven-and-a-half million files on it, and would take an ETERNITY to scan, so how do I stop it automatically scanning the Time Capsule?

  • Just a question.  When you say that Sophos is scanning automatically, do you mean it is doing a full scan (on demand) without you requesting the software to do this?  That would be a bug in itself.

If you are selecting "scan local" drives (on demand scanning) and it is scanning your network drive, it is possible that for some reason Sophos is seeing that drive as local.  However,  I believe that creating a Custom Scan and specifying only your local disk (or whatever) might solve the problem. If I select "local scan" from the menu, it Sophos does scan my Firewire, Time Machine backup.  And it is maddeningly slow;  over a network, it would take forever. So I just use my "custom scan" setting, which as I said just includes my internal disk.
