How do I ignore scanning my Time capsule?

How do I stop Sophos Anti-Virys from automatically scanning my Time Capsule?  It has over seven-and-a-half million files on it, and would take an ETERNITY to scan, so how do I stop it automatically scanning the Time Capsule?

    But if the user has not tried it I suggest:

    1.  Excluding Time Machine for on access scanning.  The exclusion can be local, or networked (but I have never needed it for network drives"

    2.  Creating a "Custom Scan" for on demand scans, which in my case means my internal disk.

    If Sophos is scanning a networked drive when being asked to scan only  local drives  -- well that is a bug.  Since it does not happen to me (I have both local and networked hard drives running Time Machine)  I thought  it might be a simple  preference problem.  I do not claim to be an expert, and I am only attempting to help because I know the terminology can be confusing.

    I am certainly not attempting to confuse anyone further!
