Help with removing the W32/Netsky-Z once and for all!

Hi All

Happy New Year.  I'd really appreciate your help removing a virus I have on my mac.

I ran a Sophos Scan a couple of months ago and have the W32/Netzky-Z on my laptop. I've tried to remove it manually and downloaded the Sophus Virus Removal Tool but all I get is a load of gobbledeegoop (technical term!) when I open it so not sure what to do. I've done a thorough internet search on the best way to remove the W32/Netzky-z but can't seem to find the solution? All the posts I find regarding the Netsky seem to be from 2004 and when I click on the links the pages no longer exist!

Any help/advice would be much appreciated folks.

Thanks

  • Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

Yes, I did run the Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac free tool and thats whats detected the the Windows worm, W32/Netskey-Z.  The threat is detected in my Yahoo Mail.

I have to delete it manually but still not sure how to do this on my Mac? I'll post in the correct forum for further advice, this time!

Thanks again for getting back to me.

    Best wishes
