Sophos Free Encryption 2.40.1 backward compatible

Hi!

I have a question regarding the backward compability for Free Encryption.

I used to use SafeGuard Private Crypto version 2.0.1, where I belive the key length was 128 bit. 

I know that I can decrypt old archives encrypted with this old version but is it possible to also create encrypted archives with the new version and still be able to decrypt it using the old version of SafeGuard?
