Anti-virus for Mac freezes

I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 on a Macbook. I ran it overnight and when I tried to wake my computer up in the morning all I got was the spinning beach ball, so I had to force restart. I tried running it again and it froze on me with about 10% to go, so I had to force restart again. Is there any reason why it would be doing this and is there any fix?

  • Thanks, QC. It turns out the problem was my BootCamp partition. I followed the advice in one of the threads in your link and unchecked the "Scan inside archives and compressed files" option in the preferences and excluded my BootCamp partition from the scan and it works fine now.
