  • I'm writing to report an issue that affected my Intel Imac after updating from OSX 10.8.4 to 10.8.5 with Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac v. 9.0.1. After updating, I was no longer able to open web pages (e.g. apple.com). I reported this to Apple Tech Support and we were finally able to restore service by trashing Sophos files from the Launch Daemons folder at Go->Computer->Macintosh HD->Library:

I have now deleted v.9.0.1 completely and am wondoring if anyone has had the same issue. Sophos Support had no comment and directed me to this site.

I believe that Sophos Free is an excellent product, but hesitate to install it again until there is some resolution to this issue.

Also, I tried to locate Sophos's Uninstaller according to their directions...but could not. If you have the file, please forward it to me.

  • The removal program is located in /Applications/.  In Finder open your Applications folder and locate the 'Remove Sophos Anti-Virus'  app.

If you're willing to test the program again please reinstall and post back the results - you can always remove again with the same app as mentioned above.

  • I believe in past versions of Sophos, the unInstaller was named "Sophos remove". That way if your applications folder was sorted alphabetically, they would show up together. I just installed version 9.0.1 and all of a sudden the UnInstaller was not next to the application where I expected it. So at first I also thought it was not there. It would be helpful if the default name of the UnInstaller started with "Sophos".
