File server (NAS)

I have a 11tb raid server hooked to my Mac for storage and my large number of photos, accessed by Aperture.

1) Does Sophos scan those files during the "scan all"?    The message states "scan all files and folders on this Mac" and it is scaning my 2 Time Machine drives.   Many of the files (movies, music etc) was moved to the server before i started Sophos.

2) As I import new photos from my cameras, does Sophos scan them before Aperture stores them in the server?

  • If the drive(s) are mounted, yes.  You can exclude them though (double-click the white area in the Scans window) and add an exclusion...

The on-access scanner will check all files read from and written to local disks so the files will mostly likely be scanned at some point.  If you want to exclude on-access scanning (not an on demand scan as shown above) you can do this by opening Preferences (shown below) but this may not be necessary (only really if the computer's performance dips a lot).
